Sketches: Octopath Traveler II

A Time for Everything.

Setting. Partitio The Merchant and Osvald The Scholar are wondering if their friend has finished inventing the telescope.

Partitio: Hoo-ey! Let’s stop in and have a drink with ‘im!

Osvald: As in…an alcoholic beverage?

Partitio: Hehe, is there any other kind?

Osvald: Alcohol dulls the mind. If we have a drink, it should be coffee.

Partitio: Coffee! Just so you know, I take mine with plenty o’ milk.

Osvald: That’s absurd…Milk blunts the bitterness of the beans…the very bitterness that stimulates the mind.

Partitio: Well, to each their own…

(Friend lost telescope to moneylenders but is at least healthy…)

Osvald: That sweetness of yours is impeding our progress.

Partitio: On the contrary, a bit of sweetness helps everythin’ along. As in coffee, as in life, partner.

(After finding out their friend was being cheated. Facing the thugs…)

Osvald: Just so I know the score, Partitio…Do these cups of coffee need any milk or sugar?

Partitio: Aw now see, it pays to be discernin’. Coffee this bad doesn’t need sweetenin’…it needs to be thrown out.

Osvald: I see…The merchant’s palate contains multitudes.

(Facing the moneylender boss…)

Partitio: Can I ask ya somethin’? D’ya like coffee?

Moneylender: I adore coffee. Nothing better than a good brew, black as night.

Partitio: That so? Then I reckon it’s your lucky day. ’cause I get a big ol’ cup of the bitter stuff for ya!
