Basketball
It’s been a while since I last picked up a basketball, so it’s not surprising that my skill has deteriorated. Nevertheless I still enjoy it and found that shooting in a court alone is a good time to think about things.
With limits
I completed the Standard Chartered 10K race in 55 minutes. Since I haven’t been training regularly and this is the first time I run 10K, I found it rather tough mentally. For me will-power is harder to acquire and conquer compare to stamina. Luckily I got enough funny jokes about the race from an imaginative ducky to sustain through the finish line. My boss ran 48 minutes. When he heard of my result, he said that was his grandmother’s pace. I got to do better next year and beat the master on the white horse.
Christmas gift
As expected, our company cut thousands of employees. I was lucky enough not to be affected this time, but a lot of my colleagues were not as fortunate, and it is likely that there will be more coming next year. A few friends compared it to a war, and one said I’m like a warrior left standing on top of many corpses. I think a lot of it comes to luck and is uncontrollable. What I can do is to run myself like a business and make sure it is viable and justify my pay by adding enough value.
Kindle
My lovely sister helped get me a Kindle, which should arrive before Christmas. I decided to get one mainly for the convenience of not having to carry and store too many books. I can still remember what a pain it was to move my books from one country to another. Here’s
a list of books I got for my Kindle, which should be more than enough to keep me happy through my Christmas and New Year break.
That Kindle looks really nice…please show me how it works if you bring it here. Are you going to read all of those books during the Christmas and NY?
Will bring it along if it arrives on time. The link below has a nice review on Kindle. Don\’t think I\’d finish all the books over the break. I should be able to get through some fairly quickly. For the others, I plan to read as much as I can during the break. http://meganmcardle.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/05/kindling_a_flame_in_my_heart.php
